The Childress Pediatric Trauma Institute and Wake Forest Baptist Health presented Davidson County Schools with BCON kits on Tuesday January 30th at 11:00am at Welcome Elementary. The kits include a tourniquet and wound packing material that are being provided by the Childress Pediatric Clinic through a grant they received. Representatives from RCR, pediatric doctors from Wake Forest Baptist Health, nearby news agencies, Davidson County Schools nurses and our SROs from the north district watched Dr. John Petty and Mr. Richard Childress teach some our students proper techniques for applying a tourniquet. The Students used a "hands-on" approach to learn the best way to help if someone is injured. Dr. Petty made sure the students knew "Anyone can stop someone from bleeding". Training for our SROs and school nurses was held at the sheriff's office back in November.
